Jeff Tang

COO

Jeff joined Blue Ivy Partners as Chief Operating Officer in 2026, bringing with him a career built at the intersection of national security, entrepreneurship, and cutting-edge cybersecurity research.

He began at the National Security Agency, where he worked as a Global Network Exploitation & Vulnerability Analyst conducting computer network exploitation operations in direct support of national security missions. That foundation sent him to ManTech International, where he shifted from operations to development -- researching the tools, techniques, and emerging trends shaping network vulnerabilities, encryption, and data concealment.

Jeff co-founded VAHNA, a startup built around a security platform of his own design that detected targeted network intrusions and delivered real-time remediation. He later took the helm of the Cylance Applied Research Team (CART) at BlackBerry Cylance, leading researchers across the country in developing novel techniques to stop zero-day exploits and malware before they could cause damage.

Jeff founded Mischief Industries, a boutique cybersecurity firm through which he advises private companies and organizations on strengthening their security posture and building out both offensive and defensive capabilities from the ground up. As a Principal Software Engineer at Obsidian Security, he led the design and development of an industry-leading SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) product, giving organizations continuous visibility into the misconfiguration risks hiding inside their SaaS environments.

Jeff holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley; an M.S. in Offensive Computer Security from Eastern Michigan University; an MBA from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business; and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
